do i need to change this?

    hi

    this might be the wrong forum so sorry,

    i have got the terminator 2 extreme edition dvd (with the 1080p transfer)

    i just needed to know if i need to change the setting on my oppo dvd player from 720 to 1080 or would the film do that automatically.

    Can you even play that version? thought it was Windows Media with US internet connection only?

    The Oppo, like other DVD players, can only play standard def DVDs. The fact that the original transfer was HD ain't worth diddley-squat.

    If you are going to upscale (and it's a big if) then only upscale to the native res of the display device, otherwise you introduce two levels of scaling.

    If you are talking about WMV-HD (or whatever it's called) the Oppo doesn't play them.

    there is 2 disks both have the 1080 transfer.

    The HD version is on disc 2 and needs the PC to play it. It won't work in a normal DVD player as that is what disc 1 is for. It is the standard DVD version of the film.
