Hi. I bought a very nice Panasonic Plasma 42" a few years ago which has been really nice. But I want a new toy..... I am concerned about the energy a plasma TV takes, but have seen a friend's LCD and have not been impressed when watching sport on it. I don't really want 3D and have the impression that it's not taken off as much as people thought, and won't have Sky, but freesat (I'm planing on getting a Humax Freetime box).

So... lots of questions. In particular, my requirements are:
. at least 3 HDMI ports at the back, another one in the front.
. USB ports so I can plug an external drive in
. Wi-fi enabled, which is nice-to-have as I use Powerline adaptors at the moment
. Smart TV - I love gadgetry
. Bigger screen, maybe 46"
. I've looked and am considering Panasonic or Samsung
. I'd rather not spend more than £1000
. I have external surround sound system so not fussed about sound

So... should I get 3D, just-in-case?
LCD or Plasma?
Panasonic or Samsung, or something else?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks

See if you can grab yourself a 50" Panasonic GT50, some bargains going but very few available now.

All of the best sets are 3D now, its just another feature.

Would you guys also say the TX-P42GT50B Plasma is a better TV for picture quality over the TX-L42FT60B LED TV ?

IMO yes the GT50 was on a few top sets last year, HD wise only really beaten IMO by the VT50.
