    Hi Board,

My PS2 laser is on its last legs and because of this havent used my PS2 for atleast 6 months.

Recently i popped over to my Brothers house and we hooked up 2 X-boxes and 2 TV's and had 4 player Halo and thought it was awesome.

I dont know whether to buy an x-box now as i know pro evo 4 is out on the X-box and also Outrun 2 (big fan of the original) or get my trusted PS2 a new lease of life but sending it away for a Laser repair.

At the moment im thinking leave the PS2 alone and treat yourself to a new x-box -

On the other hand i think its a waste of having a Messiah 2 powered PS2 just sitting there looking pretty next to my TV.

I did buy a gamecube last year and that has not been played since Christmas when i got Mario Cart - :mad

For those of you who have both consoles, what do u think your be using the most over the next 6 to 12 months, and some suggestions on how i can get back into gaming

    Thanks

    Dal

erm, biased answer coming up. £100 = xbox = best £100 you could spend(legally). Only thing you should probably think about re your PS2 is how many games have you got for you modded machine that will not play on a normal one? or how many do you play? is online gaming something you want?

I have all 3 consoles, xbox is getting worn out through over useage, PS2 is now a dust magnet, which occasionally gets a wipe down for some Pro Evo action. GC, mario kart and Tennis, and thats it, and that only gets played when there is no-one on 'live' worth playing with.

well, it depends on what games youve got for your ps2, and the ones your watching that are being released in the next few months.
im lucky enough to have both, but i only really use my xbox, but im not getting rid of the ps2 yet as theres a few games im waiting to be released (gta:san andreas & gt4)

have a think and a read round about the games and stuff first.

You see thats another thing. I would use the live function on the X-Box with having a BB connection it just makes sense.

I have some excellent games for my PS2 the main reason for getting mine chipped was so that i could import JAP/US games and play them on my PS2. I have all the Winning Eleven Games since the PS2 first came out.

Just looking on ebay and i can pick up a new laser for about 20 quid. The last time i looked they where atleast double that!!

i was going to say there pretty cheap on ebay, only thing is though, i believe theres going to be a wire that needs soldering onto the ps2 laser as your is modded.
i may be wrong so dont fill ya pants yet, but im sure ive read that somewhere.
so you may be looking at quite a bit to get yours repaired.

maybe you could sell the ps2 and the games and get an xbox

    (but dont forget about gt4!)

    :)

How could i forget about GT4 this game does look awesome.

I have emailed a couple of people about fitting the new laser.

I think some of the old modchips used to have a cap on them to help save the laser, i think these next gen chips are o.k.

But will check out what you said.

It comes with what it normally does mate. 1 pad etc.

I got it second hand and as it was near the end of the one year warrenty i thought i'd try and get microsoft to fix it(there was nothing wrong i just wanted it new'd(new word) up), anyhow the bloke at the other end of the phone just said instead of collecting it to repair that he could send a new sealed machine out to replace it, of course i was up for it so 2 days later it turned up.

So its got all the sticky wrap over it, the only thing that aint new is the pad and the lead, but they are mint anyhow.

Hmmm, everyone keeps aking me that, i'd want about £95, but i'd throw in a second controller and 2 games. There is an extra leads floating about too. Although sending an Xbox is bloody expensive, maybe a delivery could be arranged.

I'd personally say both too! :D

Why not buy a game cube as well for the hell of it (oh and for the starwars and resi games too!) :rotfl:

I dont think you'd be dissapointed getting one the other or both the ps2 and xbox are more or less having the same games released on them now so it wont really matter.

Only you can decide at the end of the day but if you are in a position for both do it :smashin:

Got a gamecube already Fella. That bad boy is in the bedroom and PS2 is in my lounge -

Think im going to get my ps2 laser repaired and then splash out on an X-Box next month sometimes.

Toys r us are doing excellent deals on the x-box. For £129.99 you get an x-box and 4 games. Must be able to pick up the DVD remote and another controller cheap on here or ebay.

Im going to see what deals are around and take it from there.
