Do any of these upscale?

Looking at the following players to mate with a Pioneer 436XDE and wondered what people thought would go best with my equipment? Haven't tested any yet. All seem similar price and spec. Would be used for both movies and music.
    Three questions:
How will the performance compare to my ageing Pioneer 717 player?
Do any of them upscale standard DVD pictures to a higher resolution (Is this what HDMI is?) as I've not been able to find a definitive answer yet and is this a feature which is recommended?
My last question is about the DVD-A/SACD capability of the Yamaha. It has a firewire port but my amp doesn't. Is there another way of getting the DVD-A/SACD signal to my amp?

Equipment: Pioneer 436XDE (hopefully!); Pioneer VSX-859 RDS Receiver, KEF Egg 2005 5.1 speakers

    Many thanx...

...or should I stick with my 717 and wait for HD/Blu Ray decks to arrive next year?
