DMR EZ27- problem when leaving disc in

My Panny DMR EZ27 is unhappy when a disc is left inside after viewing. Everytime we leave the disc in for more than a couple of hourse, the word "guide" is shown on the display and the machine is frozen. The only way to operate it again is by either unplugging from the mains or holdiong the power button down for about 15 seconds. Any ideas?
