The normal size for a PAL DVD is 720 x 576, but the DVD's made with my Panasonic DMR-ES10 are 704 x 576.

Is this the norm for standalone DVD recorders?

Recorders vary between the two. I was slightly peeved when I discovered that the Panasonic ES10 did 704 instead of 720 because I rip recordings to my computer and make my own DVD's and my favourite(very expensive)software doesn't support that size.

Thanks Zeb, what software do you use?, I'm using Womble Mpeg Video Wizard for editing and DVD-Lab Pro for Authoring, I'm getting excellent results :smashin:

I use the TMPGenc range of tools for editing and was using Adobe DVD Encore for menus etc but it doesn't support the 704 dimension so I now use Ulead DVD Workshop. I did try the DVD-Lab, but I have to confess to having become a bit lazy and now prefer the GUI, drag and drop approach.
