    See http://www.avland.co.uk/panasonic/dmre30/

I don't know how genuine that is or when you could expect to receive it though. Anyone dealt with AV Land before?

As soon as I'm back from holiday I'm going to get one but they don't ship overseas unfortunately so I'll have to get it somewhere else. Here in Portugal shops are still selling the DMR-E20 at £1250!!

Well, I just phoned them and it isn't in stock yet. "Sometime this month" apparently but they're taking pre-orders.

Another question, Portugal (and most of Europe) uses the PAL-BG standard and the UK uses PAL-I - the only difference is the sound carrier. Does all modern AV hardware support both automatically or do you think they make different versions for each European market (UK, most of rest of Europe, France)?

I don't want to buy my DMR-E30 in the UK and then find it won't receive sound back here in Portugal (which is what happened to my old VCR!).

It is early days as yet pricewise - i.e. www.electricaldiscountuk.co.uk have it at £473 - and so it could be cheaper elsewhere.
As far as PAL etc. goes, the different manufacturers have models which can be either multi-standard or not differng model to model.
It thus would make sense for you to wait at least until they are physically at stores and then ask for them to be checked properly for specification - and/or phone Panasonic customer services.
