My current PJ ( Davis SL8 ) is having a few probs lately, and ideally i'd like something that does native XGA anyway, so I'm looking to UG.

How much will I need to spend to get a PJ similar quality to the SL8, but with native XGA resolution?

4:3 is the preferred option as i'm running from PC, and currently happy using VGA so not too fussed about DVI inputs unless it would make a huge difference?

I don't watch a real lot of movies, but would like to use the PJ for computing so a good native resolution is the main factor.

Any suggestions as to which models to look at?

BenQ 6200 looks a bargain to me, but I'm out of my depth with PJs and haven't seen any mention of this model on the forum anywhere.. ?

My ideal budget would be £1500, is that realistic?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated..

    Cheers,

    The Dude

    Cheers Gary.. much appreciated.

The H56 is looking very interesting.. Defo one for the shortlist.
Now to try and find somewhere to demo one (Yorkshire)

    Any other suggestions anybody?

Optoma H56 fits the bill nicely spec wise, anyone know of anything similar to audition at the same price level?

(£1700 is the very top of my budget, I can't go any higher as i just dont watch enough movies to justify the spend..)

Just a quick word of advice / warning to Dude and Tonmeistermat. Optoma have just introduced the H56A which has a longer (altough at the moment unspecified) lamp life. Therefore if you do go for one make sure it's not old stock as I suspect may be the case with the dealers letting them go cheap. Also demo wise Sevenoaks were fine for me when I bought my H50 and there's plenty of them around so you should have one locally.

Spoke to someone at ProjectorPoint and he mentioned the 56a... seems as if you can't get the old version anyhow. The guy at Sevenoaks in Croydon told me they where discontinued and that he couldn't get a demo machine in for me...

Don't think so... the guy at ProjectorPoint has been trying to get me a demo, but hasn't managed to call me back. I'll confirm it with him when I speak to him though.

Just spoken to Krish AV in London, they seem to be pretty switched on there.

They said the H56 is still current, although with the new one (H56A) it comes with a 3000hr lamp and a 16:9 lens mask. I think this is the thing that I got with my H30, it cuts out the stray light.

He also said that he would give me a ceiling mount as well.

Sorry but I forgot to ask him what his price was.
