    my LG is my preciousssssss,
so out of sight it may be but never out of mind :D

the odd rainbow I saw was on "carry on regardless" which is in full black and white, and it was 2am in the morning with my eyes held open with matchsticks, maybe that had something to do with it ?
maybe I should move that question to the ask razor thread though :D
don't want nigel to say I've gone :offtopic:

( although as rainbows are nigel's favourite topic I'm sure he won't mind  )

Oh that's what they are.....I see. Anyway, they don't exactly disappear; they just hide. I suppose that could count as disappearance.

And guess what would happen to it, if you did? Anyway, that description implies a bias.

it goes without saying that there are better dlp rptv choices nowadays,
however I still consider the LG to be a good dlp set, it's only the worldwide problem with the on/off switching problem that gave it a bad name, and lets face it some other manufacturers sets seem to be presenting similar problems recently ( :hiya: locky )

and nigel.... for this thread :D

    Lion (My Hero) :hiya:

I am sure at the time there was no alternative to the LG as it was the first DLP in the UK. However the LG has not got a digital connection, so its not really suitable for future HD. [IMG]

Cheer Nigel for the thread. [IMG]

Yeah - thanks 'Paul' for the sticky - Razor thought it was his birthday this morning when he woke up and see this sticky staring him in the face :D

I think 'Paul' is getting a little soft in his 'old age' :)

    I wish my RD65 would re-appear as a 82' Mitsubishi. [IMG]

Beats me why anyone would want a monster 82 inch black (or grey, or silver or whatever) box in their room (any room)? When it's switched off it must surely be a dominating eyesore.

Bigger is better. And the sure way to really, really big, is front projection. Every time.

Takes up virtually no room when it's not in use; real cinema experience when it is.

    I agree LV
I'm just about to pull my screen down and watch "sahara" which arrived today,
I find that my 43" tosh or 44" LG are great for everyday cable tv,
but when it's a movie it always needs to be bigger than the normal tv programs you watch or it dosen't have the same impact,
and who would want to see dot cotton at 80" anyway ? :D

That is your set-up i take it. Thats a very impressive piece of kit, and i personally would never have been able to pick out any screen in those first two pictures. When the screen is down it looks awesome, i can only imagine what that must look like when its up and running. Your lucky to have the ideal room layout for that type of system, unforunately my lounge window is off centre, so i wouldn't be able to accomodate that type of system, however i will most certainly be baring AV in mind if/when i move to my next house :)

I likle the way the curtain pelmet hides the screen. Nice touch. Looks like you have magic curtains.

What with sky HD and xbox 360 due soon my next purchase looks likely to be a new receiver with mulit HDMI/DVI switching.

It's wife friendly. You'll see we have a little TV for watching unimportant TV stuff.

You'd have to have a really strangely shaped house, to be unable to do anything in this line. I was lucky that the pelmet/valance/window were in just the right place. But there are other ways of concealing a roller blind. Behind a false coving, perhaps.

In any case, I'd contend that, if you could accomodate a massive TV (82 and 100 inch have been mentioned) then you could accomodate a similarly sized roller blind, and it would be much less intrusive. You need the save the same amount of space either way, but I guess, it's rather like being able to put the big TV away when it isn't being used.

You do need virtually total blackout conditions, though.

A dedicated home cinema will be a priority on my next house. Ideally a room approx 20' x 14' as a minimum would be nice. I would like a 9-10 foot wide screen.

I like the way the projector screen doesn't dominate or interfer with the look of your lounge. Hiding the mechanism behind the curtain pelmet is a great idea.

Having a big box [IMG] in my lounge doesnt bother me at all as its always on. When I am not watching the set I have a virtual fish tank showing [IMG]

The major pain with front pros is keeping the light out of the room, which rear pros dont suffer. However the screen size of a front pro is very impressive as is the overall effect.

That system looks (to me) like its been professionally installed/designed - possibly by Sevenoaks (as it looks like one of their demo rooms) I bet it was one of the conditions LV had to agree to before he was given the go-ahead by the Mrs/Bank Manager :D

The females are always a problem when it comes to AV  as the condition i had to comply with was no visible wiring of any kind on a 7:1 system  , so its all in the walls :rotfl: :rotfl:

Nope. All my own work*. It doesn't bear too close an inspection. And Mrs. was away at the time. She didn't (doesn't still, really) like the idea of a PJ, but she prefers it over the (huge, at the time) 37 inch TV it replaced. She'd rather just have a "normal sized" (but LCD probably) telly and no home theatre.

    * well, she chose and hung the curtains

I must be lucky as my better half doesn't care what I buy. In fact she took half day off when my RD65 was delivered. She loves watching movies. She is all for me getting a front pro if I so wished. :)
