dlp or lcd for the sharpest picture

    pound for pound what would give me the sharpest picture.DLP or LCD

    depends on the quality of the optics, quality 1 chip DLP will be sharper but at a higher cost than LCD.

    LCD can be quite sharp but also consider screendoor issues unless its a 1080p unit. Sharpness is also only one aspect of picture qualty, so what is your planned usage?

    hi my usage is mainly sd dvds and freeveiw at the moment'i have a AE 500 but looking at a AE 1000 as an upgrade as they are on offer for £1600

    that is a good LCD projector but it is a little low on the light output.

    heres a review of the panny that compares it sharpness with other projectors.

    try also the Mitstibushi HC5000 (again this will be replaced by a new model coming soon).

    Also worth noting is that the panasonic AE2000 is on its way shortly that ups the brightness etc.

    I would recommend that you try and demo the AE1000 and Mitsubishi side by side if possible. They don't come any sharper than the HC5000, which will also be brighter. The AE1000 will probably have slightly better black levels.
