I find wednesday lunch time the best time for viewing a DLP set, wouldnt recomend more than 15 minutes use on a tuesday though.

It depends on how many hours your set is on for every day. Replacement lamps are pretty expensive. If your set is on for 10 hours a day, that's 3,650 hours per year. Lamp life varies from set to set, but you need to take the cost of replacement lamps into account.

The Sagem lamp life is rated at 8,000-10,000 hours so even at 10 hours a day you should get at least 2-3 years out of the set before you need to change the lamp. Hopefully prices will have dropped by then.

Why this huge histeria about the lamp, its going to be 250-300 quid tops to change when it starts to fade. We arent exactly talking thousands. When i bought my tosh i spoke to the bloke in the shop about it who said he asked a few people at a show back last year when they launched the tosh, possibly people from texas instruments and it was said the lamp would last 3-4 years at least with around 8 - 10 hours viewing a day. Remember the lamp doesnt just blow out it fades.
