I'm currently looking at getting an AE700. My budget is £1500 including screen, and I'll be using the projector in a room that I will be able to get pretty dark (not black, but VERY dark).

Is there a DLP in this price range I should be looking at as well? The 720 lines is essential because it is going to be used for a lot of HD gaming come November.

I'll need to then demo both projectors to see if I can see the rainbows.

Also, could somebody recommend me a screen? Are you supposed to use a grey one for LCD? I would like one about 6 feet wide, not electric or anything.

The other thing is, getting the room dark. I'm thinking either heavily lined curtains, or black felt roller blinds. Sound reasonable?

The BenQ 7700 is around £1500, is a DLP and is HD Ready 1280x720 PJ. You can make a half decent screen yourself for around £25 for the time being! You wont beat the 7700 for price and performance. Trust me.

When you demo an LCD PJ DO NOT project onto a screen with a high gain otherwise the blacks will be greys. If your going 'fixed screen' I would recommend a DIY job, I personally use fomex.

If RBE is not an issue the 7700 is a no-brainer. Great value and excellent reviews. Screens are a bit over-rated IMHO. A flat, white wall is 80-90% as good as most screens. High gain screens are worth it I think, but you would only really need one if your projector was dim or you particularly like a bright image.
