The first details of this future dlc are being released.

New 'Aftermath' Expansion Details | BATTLEFIELDO

The fourth expansion to the Battlefield 3 world has been tightly guarded, until now. EA has recently updated the landing page for Aftermath with some new concept art and some details that have been previously kept tight lipped.

Set amongst the shattered districts, streets and surrounding villages of a post-earthquake Tehran. Battlefield 3: Aftermath depicts a continuing struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation.

With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives. Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.

KEY FEATURES INCLUDE:

  • Urban warfare on four new maps
  • New game mode
  • New assignments, achievements/trophies and dog tags
  • New heavily modified military and civilian vehicles - ingenuity and firepower combined
  • Fight through the dust and rubble, use the earthquake damaged terrain to your tactical advantage
A release date for this expansion is still to be determined.

civilian vehicles .... Sounds like the classic Toyota hilux pickup truck with a 50cal mounted on the flat bed.

not really said much other than urban and after a natural disaster.

vertical and horizontal, imagine twin towers so you can while from one to the other, underground despair linking them and also part collapsed at the top so linked there. This could be interesting if they can make a large and varied map where buildings where not copied and pasted as clones. Whatever they do lets hope its different enough to be worth while yet still battlefield. Cq is great fun but its rainbow 6 (I love r6 tho).

New heavily modified military and civilian vehicles

Damn, are we going to get VW golf's with heavy machine guns on them?! Personnel carriers are going to be Renault Espace's! The 1980s Lada will now serve as the tank. Personally I'll be legging it to bag one of these bad boys (the green one, Lynx L-3, at least it's in military colours). Strap a machine gun on one of those and they'll be lethal!, it's even got a basket to stick your C4 in

OK, so a premium exclusive (soon to be on youtube :rotfl:) video came online with supposedly 'exclusive aftermath footage' you can see it Here.

What a pile of steaming crap, no gameplay footage at all, just a look at some bloody rubble.

I do like the idea of aftermath. I'm hoping for some nice tight maps with some interesting cobbled together vehicles (A-Team style!) and some good infantry action. For me this is the most anticipated DLC of the lot so far.

Looking at it I tend to agree. A mix of urban indoors and outdoors with semi demolished buildings. Lots of sniper nests, combat between buildings and room clearance.

I'd love to see a Blackhawk Down Rush Map where defenders have to defend RVs rather than MComs and attackers are locals having to attack the RVs and deal with attacking little birds. Last RV could have some exfil armour support.
New vehicles could include Toyota Hilux with 50 Cal on the back and knackered old mercs.

I hope Aftermath has similar maps to the vanilla BF3 maps. Destroyed buildings etc, remind me of Fall of Saigon from Battlefield Vietnam :D

The crossbow looks to be a weapon attachment in that picture and it looks like we'll be getting new soldier skins too if you look at the uniforms.

Could be the PSE Tac 10/15. Those bows are awesome.

That was better than the first trailer. Look like the crossbow might be for snipers then.

I still want explosive bolts on the crossbow. That would be great!
