Has anybody gone along the route of installing Sky themselves by using a second hand dish/ box just for the improvement in picture quality without the subscription? I know the choice of channels would be limited, I'm not sure what would be available this way and I'm not sure it would be worth it, but I would be interested to know. I would like to upgrade from analogue terrestrial, but am put off by the fact that nobody has a good word to say about Skys service and apparent rip-off policy. I'm not interested in having 100s of channels but would like an improvement on what I already have without paying through the nose

Hi rob, hows it goin ?
the upgrade to a digital set up is well worth it just for the picture improvement alone ,
if ya can get a second hand unit at the right price i think ya get about 40 channels free including qvc,i will send ya a full list but all these channels at no charge,
the only downside is you cant get central through the digi dish so you will need to keep a seperate terestrial ariel for this,
like i said rob, its worth it for the picture improvement alone,
all the best, chris tamworth, hd6,s.

Look here to tell you all you need to know

    http://www.vinylgems.fsnet.co.uk/ftapage.htm

Get a 2nd hand box from loot/free ads. You will need a FREE TO AIR viewing card from the BBC all you do is ring them and give your address. Once you receive it ring BBC again and they will authorise over the air.

Get a PACE or PANA box, GRUNDIG and AMSTRAD if stuck. Do not touch the old AMSTRAD

Say if you need anymore help.
