    No thanks. What initially was posted as a seeming 'giveaway' suddenly became £100!

    Interesting marketing ploy. Had I not asked here would you have told me about this £100 before or after I arrived to collect?

    Best read the rules about providing a price before posting any more items. :lesson:

    Testing the market is not allowed. You're either selling or giving it away.

    I'll be interested to see what the mods have to say about this when they check the tread.

    I expect you wouldn't let me play with your football in the playground either :boring:

    'cooperuk' , you were the one who first mentioned the word 'price'.i was merely trying to find the worthness of the item and subsequent posts were replies to your questions.
    for the benefit of members who may wish to contribute less agressively to this thread here are the facts;
    the screen i am using was constructed after alot of investigation and testing of a number of material samples from the likes of dalite, harkness hall, ellie etc and results were posted at the time.
    the result was an 88" 16:9 screen using fabric from drh (matt white) as it gave the best allround performance. tests were done using a z2 and more a more expensive dlp pj.
    it now sits proudly in a dedicated cinema room which is a wife free zone
    unfortunatly our new house has no such room and wife insists on a pulldown screen
    i would therefore like to know whether or not anyone would consider it to be of any worth, or if it would really be too much hassle to pick up and have to be consigned to the skip?.

    Hey don't put it in the skip! I can give it a good home first.
    It may not be so much of a trek for me as I am in Shropshire.
    Where are you? .....

    I'm extremely sorry if you find my adherence to the rules and my pointing them out to you aggressive. The rules are there to stop people being misled, intentionally or unintentionally. If you require reimbursement for your screen material this should be mentioned in the initial post to avoid exactly the situation which has developed here. That's why the rules exist and why testing the market is not AFAIK acceptable.

    Perhaps you would have been better off asking what value the item would have, as others have done in the past when wishing to find out the market value of an item they wish to dispose of. Or, as otherwise suggested, you should have posted the item for sale, at a cost of £100, in the classfieds.

    BTW YOU were the first to mention that it would indeed involve money - 'covering the cost of material', which was what prompted me to ask you about the 'price' as I did not want what would have been a nasty £100 surprise when I turned up at you door to collect the item. I assumed from your initial post that because you had 'not put a price' that it was a 'freebie'.

    I hope the screen ends up in a good home and that you get what you deserve for it.
