    Hi All.

I have just coated a black ash centre speaker with beech fablon & it looks great.

Was just putting the last screw back in the fasten the woofer when my hand slipped & the screwdriver went straight thru the woofer:(

The Mrs has placed an embargo on my HC spending and so a new speaker is out of the question.

The DIY bug is therefore having a nibble!

I have stacks of mdf kicking around from a cabinet build & an old pair of JPW mini monitors.

If I were to build a box out of the mdf & simply transplant the 2xwoofers & 1xtweeter from the JPW's might this work?

Chances are the x-over won't work properly with the alternative drive units.

You could however put both the mini-monitors into one box and thus have a kinda double centre.

You would have twin inputs also.

So I would need to cross wire the inputs then?

It would need to kinda end up such that the speaker parts are still as two speakers, but in one box. So dual x-overs etc.

Then you can just wire the 'two' speakers in series or parallel depending on their impedance.

What is the woofer cone made of?
In days gone by, I have repaired paper cone speakers using pva and soft paper (e.g blue roll). It all depends on the extent of the tear.
The repair would be hidden by the speaker grill.

    Regards, Mylo
