    Hi,

I have the 950 and when playing back various movie formats from DVD eg: DivX, Mpg AVI etc I have noticed that the scaling make the image too big so that I am missing some picture from all four sides (similar to what you would lose watching a 16:9 image on a 4:3 TV) this is very anouying, particularly when viewing content with subtitles. Can anyone shed some light on what is wrong or how to correct this

    Thanks

if it is then its by a huge amount. I thought overscan was only at the left and right edges though?

i had a problem playing mpg/avi etc in the correct ratio via hdmi. to play it correctly i use the scart output and stretch the picture via the tvs "cinema" mode (it stretches non anamorphic stuff to the right size). i think i might have had to set some stuff to 4:3 on the dvd player and use the tv to stretch it back the right way - sounds confusing, but just muck around with the different settings on both dvd and tv - you cant choose all the options with hdmi though

    No, overscan affects all sides.

Thanks for those replys. I am viewing via HDMI so may try it via scart for DivX.

I output via HDMI to a Panasonic AE500 projector - PQ is virtually the same across all modes of HDMI ( I think the PJ does the upscaling for itself) - the only difference is that if I output at the lowest mode (480p/576p) then I can still control the screen resolution from the PJ - in all other modes the aspect ratio on the PJ is locked at 16:9

I only noticed this after I put the multi region hack in - but it may have been there already

I can set the Zoom features etc. You recon if I set it to 4:3 the the top and bottom overscan may lessen?

you mean u CANT set the zoom feature when playing divx or mpeg? it doesnt work for me. i use scart (component will also probably work) and use the tv zoom setting to stretch the picture to the correct ratio (no over obvious overscan). i think with a couple of things i might have had to set to 4:3 on the dvd player first

if u muck about with the settings you will get it without too much overscan or zoom
