    Hi
Need some help as I am unsure of a solution.

I have my partner moving in and she has a surround sound system (dvd player and speakers 5:1) but i want to continue to use my separate Divx DVD player to play downloaded AVI films.

Can I have it set up that the divx player plays through the surround sound system, is it easy or complex.

Bear in mind i am quite a newbie on this so basic set up information maybe required

    Thanks

    Dan

It should be simple enough. How digital audio will be achieved will depend on what connections are available on the DivX player and the 5.1 system. The connections for 5.1 will either be optical (also known as toslink) or digital coax (electrical) connections. If you know the make/model if possible the connection types, post the details. Have a look at the back of the player/sound system and the manuals and it should tell you what connections are available.

    The two connections look like:

[IMG] The digi-coax connection is usually an orange colour though.

If the connections on the two are incompatible, you can get an optical to digi-coax converter and vice versa.
