As many of you know I've recently plunged into AV kit, and more recently a SVS sub. Last night I and SWMBO watched Flight of the Phoenix. I had the amp at -10db and the sub running about 2db under mains. SWMBO complained that the sub was uncomfortable and slightly painful for her to listen to. It was then she mentioned she was unable to complete a diving course many years ago because she was unable to "equalise" the air pressure with the water pressure. Is it likely that this inability to "equalise" has translated into finding a HC sub "painful"? A BFD or sound pads are unlikely to cure those symptoms!! Me thinks I may be watching movies alone. Also SWMBO tells me that the sub makes her feel queasy and makes her ears "vibrate" when she is three rooms away, doors closed and solid brick walls in between. Just "not liking" a sub is one thing, but being in discomfort by one is another matter. I may need to rethink my strategy for sub use. I.e. only when she's out perhaps!
