A little introduction: I recently added P85/3 to my receiver to power front stage (FL/C/FR). I am quite happy with the results, but there may be P85 (two channel) in the future (when my wallet recovers) to bi-amp my FL/FR speaker. In the mean time a got a set of nice bi-wire speaker cable and I am getting ready to terminate it myself. Here comes the question(s): As P85/3 has two pairs of speaker binding posts for each channel and they can be switched on simultaneously, may I safely use one pair for powering LF and other pair to power HF? (This will allow me to terminate the speaker cables in the way that there is no additional work needed when another amp arrives ). Will connecting speakers this way influence my sound quality in other words, would it be the same as connecting both wires (LF and HF) to one pair of binding posts? If connecting speakers this way (using both pairs of binding posts), there will be no load on second pair for centre channel (my centre channel is not bi-wireable/bi-ampable). There is something in the back of my head telling me that amplifying with no load is not good? Will all this put any additional strain on the amp? Thanks in advance!
