After having used PC's for ages, having seen my brothers MB in action (which is a couple of years old with no signs of slowing down) and getting frustrated with all sorts of problems with my dell xps laptop, decided after much reading of this forum to order a macbook.

Ordered it yesterday online at midday and it's showing as out for delivery today! :D

Will no doubt be seeking advice as will be copying over all my stuff from PC to mac over the course of this weekend

    You wont be disappointed. :)

We've had our MB for 2 years now, never gone wrong, never crashed, never had a virus, never caused any wierd unusual issues.

The missus loves it and hates the PC (she wants an iMac too now ).

Basically you pay for what you get in this world (in most cases) and this is a perfect example.

You're lucky. I ordered mine last week (with a display), had a mail on Monday saying that it had been shipped but I am still waiting!

When I look at the Shipment status there are two dates showing (which have been the same since Monday):

Estimated Delivery Date - 19th February!!!

Current Delivery Status - In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule - 13th February

No courier details provided to track in more detail. Is this coming on a slow boat from China??

So today I am waiting in, hopefully I won't have wasted a day! :lease:

As you can tell I don't have much patience.

Phone Apple CS and get them to trace it - they want happy users!

Welcome aboard! There are quite a few threads on this an also have a look at the Mac Switcher & 101 pages on Apple's website, they are quite useful.

They may want to help, but they weren't much help!

The response was that the today is the date that it will reach their final distribution centre, with the 19th being the date that it reaches me. The guy couldn't answer why it was taking so long :(

Ah well. Back to twiddling thumbs...

Somewhere around the web there's a page that lets you track progress from the factory in China, but its a bit late for that now I guess. Think of the anticipation and excitement when it does finally arrive though... ;)

Did have a little google, and it would appear that as I bought more than one item, and one was a custom order then they should be arriving first at Apple's European Centre so they can be introduced to each other and then couriered on.

Unfortunately the Appletrack site is no longer available so I will have to wait for courier info to be added to the Order Status on my account.

Good news is I can now escape the house and go and buy a sandwich!

    Thanks for the welcome guys!
It's just arrived - wow, a real thing of beauty!
It was a standard spec so no alterations/additions required - assume apple only had to take it off the shelf and deliver it.
Also got applecare and iwork 09 with it.
It's a unibody 2.4 MB by the way.

    Off to have a play!

I moved from a Dell laptop to a Macbook.

I still use the laptop for music tagging as I havent really found anything for Mac that does it as easily.

I find that everytime I boot up the Dell, it's nothing but a total chore.

My mac was expensive, but the user experience is fantastic and well worth the money.

You may get a bit frustrated at first, but stick with it!
