I decided to compile a list of all the Walt Disney animated classics (official list found here) that have been released on Blu-ray so far. Also this will make it easier to track any upcoming releases and a place to generally discuss Disney titles.

*Please note: for sake of ease, I'm only going to list the original release dates for each title, and ignore multiple releases for each title

Titles in Red are now in the Vault (I.E. out of print)
-Diamond Edition
-Diamond Edition in US only

See you are going with the US classic list rather than the UK one :smashin:

'The Lion King' US version was already released a while ago- you have Oct 2012 which is incorrect :lesson:

Didn't realise there were 2 different lists! What's the difference in the uk list?

Fixed! If anyone sees anymore errors please let me know

The UK has 'The Wild' and the US has 'Dinosaur'

Tigger Movie released in the US last month.

How about "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" and "The Black Hole"?

Two Disney classics that need the BD treatment...

That's very interesting and something I hadn't heard before! I got the list in the OP from Disney wikia. It seems The Wild was produced by a Canadian company and Disney just distributed it (similar to pixar) so its not considered canon by Disney or its fans. However the insert in my LATT has it as classic #46.
I wonder why Disney UK don't consider Dinosaur canon? Not sure what to do with the list now? Might add dinosaur in brackets and put Wild as #46

Tigger Movie was produced by DisneyToons who normally make DTV films so it's not part of the Disney classic collection

True, but this list is specifically for Disney animated films not live action. Sorry I should hve made that clear in the OP
However, the Tron legacy team are apparently working on a Black Hole remake so I would expect a BD release in the next couple of years!

Excellent thread mate.

Only Aladdin and more importantly the jungle book hold any interest now for me. Of course Finding Memo is the holy grail but that's not Disney

I wished I hadn't started collecting Disney as I have a habit of needing them all as a kind of OCD. I started with just Pixars but got into Disney's after Amazon did a error and had BOGOF and half price at the same time. It meant getting six titles for just £6 each. I like seeing the numbers of the spines although the early releases did not have them.

These are the ones I would like and probably make use of the next BOGOF starting in a few weeks.

TARZAN
LADY AND THE TRAMP
CINDERELLA
FOX AND THE HOUND
ARISTOCATS
POCAHONTAS
101 DALMATIONS
TREASURE PLANET

Is treasure planet getting a UK release soon?

Is there a release date for Sword in the Stone??

Ok it's Pixar but I see their is a straight to disc Cars spin off coming soon called 'Planes'. Trailers up on YouTube

Great stuff! This will be useful

Although Pinocchio is not valuted. As its back on sale recently.

Haven't seen anything rumoured but I am sure it will arrive sometime next year.

I think first release has been pulled and there is a new diamond release, I think only difference is number on sleeve for new one, and new release is 1 disc

Just checked:

1st release : 9 Mar 2009
2nd release : 25 Jun 2012

I saw dinosaur at cinema in UK, I think its should be on the list.

I saw the US is getting it soon and just put it in my Disney list for the future.

Got my copy of it back in July, video and audio are fantastic and it has a fair amount of extras plus a nice slipcase.

FYI: Pinocchio is no longer "in the vault" as it was re-released back in June as a single disc Blu-Ray. Also, no longer part of the Diamond line.

I have removed the Vault column from the table, it only applies to less then a dozen titles anyway. I think it's be easier to just have a colour key to show which titles are OOP. Sleeping Beauty was vaulted a few years ago, but is still in stock at the Hut group and Amazon seem to have some left - so the vault thing can be misleading.
Also I've added The Wild onto the list but obviously kept Disnosaur on too, just without a number. Since this is UK-based forum, it's probably best just to follow Disney Uk's numbering

I've never even heard of 6-11, what was going on at disney between bambi and cinderella (1942-50)?

I know, I bet Disney wish they could cross those films off the classic list! :suicide:

I'd never heard of them either until a year or two ago when I started looking into the classics more closely. They are apparently just a series of shorts that were produced during and after WWII.
I also think Disney were in trouble financially - Fantasia was a massive bomb, and Dumbo was the only film to make them any money besides Snow White. So I think they just made some cheap films to make a quick buck before returning back to feature-length films in the 50's.

They are all available cheaply on DVD, so I'm sure one day they'll quietly be released on Blu-ray. I reckon they'll do double packs - i.e. "Saludos Amigos/The Three Caballeros", "Make Mine Music/Melody Time", "Fun and Fancy Free/Ichabod and Mr. Toad" - just for the completests
