    Hi all,

Anyone know when exactly disney released the Jungle Book, 101 Dalmations, Little Mermaid etc on DVD??

I have seen them for sale mainly on R2, but also on R1. No extras or anything, so they are just limited issue.

But I never ever saw them in the shops! They are definately originals.

Anyone got a clue?? I'm dying to know when I missed out!

    Cheers!

    Paul.

I got a R1 Jungle Book in January 2000. Never saw it out in the UK though and it was withdrawn from sale after about 3 months.

Typical Disney... they saw the need for the 'Platinum Editions' and pulled the chance to own anything until they could fleece you a bit more.

I bought UK copies of Jungle Book and 101 Dalamatians animated a few years ago, but they seemed to disappear very quickly.

Yeah, they released most of the classic ones - jungle book, little mermaid, 101 dalmations etc but only for about 10 weeks from what I can gather.

they were limited issue ones and contained little/no special features.

I have also been informed that they will re-release all of these as part of a 10 year classic plan - 1 each year or so I think. This year was Beauty And The beast and sleeping beauty I think.

So it will be out sometime between now and 2012!

Also a bit of advice for collectors - if you haven't got Snow White yet, nows the time to buy. It has been withdrawn and prices are starting to climb already....

Thanks for all the info everyone.

Toy Story DVD - When did this get withdrawn then? I hate it when they do that!!

    Cheers!

    Paul.

"This year was Beauty And The beast and sleeping beauty I think."

Beauty And The Beast was last year. Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio was this year.

    Hi everyone,

Well I have bought DVD Jungle Book and thought I'd drop a report.

I think its an original, but it could be a copy! Or it might just be that its one of the first dvds released, so doens't have the holograms and the like.

I bought it from Ebay as a pressie for Christmas for the missus.

    Heres why it looks original;
The cover is PERFECT (no smudging of the picture or text).
Full copyrights in the usual places on the front
Limited Issue written on the top
The guy I bought it from it certain its original
The disc itself has the usual FBI copyrights, and a menu with subtitles, languages etc
It has a chapter insert inside the case.
Its a gold disc, not a purple one.

    Heres why it might be a fake;
It has "production notes" as one of the special features which is nowhere to be found
It is also supposed to be in 16:9, but is full screen 4:3 (didn't think it was made in Widescreen anyway).
The disc print goes all the way to the centre of the DVD which I thought was strange.
    No holograms
    All region compatable.

However I do remember in the early days of DVDs that they sometimes were made all region, particularly if they were sold in Asia.
If its a Copy then its one of the best I've ever seen. It also means almost every one on ebay is a copy too.

    What do you think??

    Paul.

Depends on the region, Sleeping Beauty and Lion King was this year for region 1 although i believe those ones and Pinocchio have been released on region 2 this year, anyways since HD DVD might be here during the latter half of 2005 or early 2006 they better get a move on, i know Aladdin gets the 5 star treatment next year on region 1 along with a new edition of Pinocchio and Pocahontas.
