Perhaps that's the way the sort of people who eat that food behave? It certainly is an unappealing advert...gluttony, bad manners and fast food.

I'm glad I'm not the only one - I change channel very quickly when that comes on - I was always taught, never to speak with your mouth full - no wonder there is a moral decline in this country.

Its not only how disgusting it is but I really don't get it?? I don't understand why they would think that would 'sell' the product?? Or is it just me?

Well it's got you guys talking about it - so it must be effective in a certain way.

Anything seems to be ok for adverts these days. Look at the 'horn' not poodle' one (do they show this in early timeslots?).

As suggested above, there seems to be a marketing ploy to make people talk about adverts that irritate or disgust them. One in particular that gets to me is the couple washing the car and dancing (aaargh) - and i cant remember what the advert was selling, so that really worked didnt it :)

Well, if by "effective" you mean it manages to associate unpleasant images of gluttony and bad manners with a particular product, then I agree. Since the point of advertising is to increase sales, I'm not sure quite how this juxta position will be "effective" in doing so. Images which create negative emotions are hardly likely to increase the chances of purchase.

By effective I meant it has roused a reaction, whether that be positive or negative.

    Unless it’s all subliminal! ;)

I hate that add with a passion. So far all these new KFC adds with the idiots singing have been absolutely awfull. If I was a director at KFC and saw that I would fire the whole advertising department and hang my head in shame.

There are various ads on the tv at the moment that once I have seen them they actually make me want to stay away from the product in question. The KFC one is just one of a long line of ads that I have seen and thought, "what were they thinking when they pitched this idear?"

    HI,

Well, in my not so humble opinion, I personally think that..

    Crap Advert = Crap Product.

In the case of KFC (Killing Feathery Chicks) and Pot Noodle...

    Really S*** Advert = Really S*** Product.

Would this be an accurate statement to make? :rotfl:

Is it just me or is that latest ad for KFC just awful.

Everytime it comes on it makes me want to gip. Talking with your big fat gob full of food is just a no-no :nono:

What other ad make you want to switch over (and don't just say all of them ;) as some are better than the programmes.)

    Does that mean:

Really Good Advert = Really Good Product, which means the VW Golf must be a really good car.

Another add that gets me reaching for the remote control is the one for confused.com (the car insurers) with the annoying Scottish guy screaming his head off.

No thanks - next channel please...

That KFC advert makes me sick, a fat bird talking with her mouth full, whats so appealling about that? thankfully I went of junk (crap) food a very long time ago, and really cant see how this ad would appeal to ppl to try.

And what the fudge is this soul food lark about, serving up soul? more like serving up :censored: poor :censored:.

i don't eat junk food anymore and KFC was at the top of my list - once you know what goes on with chickens you really don't want to eat it.

and to echo what everyone has said - watching three fat chavettes doesn't make me hungary in fact the complete opposite. still KFC target demographic aren't really going to mind as they will find it funny and reaffirming of their live choices (sorry lapsed into "buzzword bingo speak" there.....)

    Hi,

I agree! Gary's spot on! This kind of ad will only appeal to the bling-bling infected, my-shoe-size-is-bigger-than-my-IQ, chavved-up, dip-s**t idiots! Anyone with even a sand-grain's worth of intelligence will just switch over, or switch over, and think that KFC must mean "Komplete ******* C********", or derivations thereof!

Oh, and on a side-note, people have already started to ask Ofcom to ban the advert! Can't blame them! I want it banned, if only so that it doesn't corrupt any more reasonably sensible people into thinking that KFC food is actual food!

No, I disagree. The more people who see it, the more will be put off buying KFC......sort of reverse advertising :)

Worst advert ever is ..... drum roll ....
The Crazy [****ing] frog. It is impossible to watch a music channel without it coming on at least once, the worst thing is it works. The American company that makes it made something like $6 million from the stupid ring tone.

They attempted to ban it saying that his belly button looked like a tiny penis. That didn't work and they have covered it up with a litle black box which probably makes more charvs buy it. Maybe something along the lines of disturbing the peace or spamming the airwaves would have been better.

Its definitely a knob and balls. My three year old went into hysterics when she saw it!

As for the fat chicks with gobbets of KFC crammed into them ... I find it strangely arousing.

I can't believe just how far up your own a****s you people are. You just love saying how much better you are than the useless idiots who watch tv! and eat kfc!

Lenny Henry did the same sketch on his show and the audience were laughing throughout. I bet they didn't spend the next day telling people they don't know how much cleverer they are than the average person.

It's an advert. It's not very clever. Move on.

Sorry to prove how far up my own ar*e I am :D but I see that the KFC ad has received the highest number of complaints (1671) and yet all complaints have been rejected by the Advertising Standards Authority. Perversely all this is better advertising then they could have ever hoped for.....
