Discrete MK atmos 5.2.4 Family/Home cinema room extension open plan build

This will be an exciting build.
If you can accommodate side surrounds then yes definitely go for them.
I’ve just signed off the drawings for a new cabinet in my personal media room that will house the subs as part of a complete overhaul of my room.

Thank you very much @Seriously Ltd, it has been a long time planning and can’t wait. Also going to wire for a projector and an in ceiling projector screen as well.

The wall at at the doors beside the piano is going to be smaller now so unfortunately I don’t think sides wil work as they will be too close to the back wall.

Yes I will be attempting to build my AV unit with my father in law as well in a few months to house my speakers and subs. Looking forward to seeing your new unit.

Would you recommend the IW150T as my back surrounds and in that placement as I see so many people going for these now? I will be in touch regarding speakers.

Foundations all dug and concrete in. They had to dig down 2.5m until they hit clay which was not expected. Thankfully the concrete got in before the walls all caved in as the ground was full of rubble and giant boulders.

Walls all built and beam at the back of the house put in for the open plan living area. The walls inside are being knocked down for the through hall.

Wiring nearly all done for Atmos and back speakers. Decided to put in an in ceiling projector screen into the room as well. Just couldn’t resist!

My atmos speakers are wired and a back box made.

Are my atmos speakers roughly in the right place to the MLP? Should I move my front atmos speakers up another joist. I was scared of having too much distance between them. I have the measurements on my room plan below if that helps.

The builders are putting up the plasterboard tomorrow so I need to decide if I should move the front ones further forward.

Thanks in advance.

Looks about right. What are the angles for each one? Sitting at MLP, aiming at each speaker?

Room and garden starting to take shape. Having the lights fitted is starting to make it look a bit more like a home again. Projector screen installed into the ceiling as well.

Tile floor going down this week, had originally wanted a wood floor and had 32 boxes and underlay sitting here ready. The fitter said there was a bit of a bump in the existing kitchen floor and refused to fit. We have decided to tile instead now instead and have eventually found tiles in stock and a fitter. Tiles getting fitted this week. Can’t wait to start the fun bit and get the MK speakers sorted and open up the Anthem AVM70 which is just sitting unopened.

Going to put my 65 inch tv in a slat wall I am going to build. Working out my units that I am going to build under the slat wall.

Nice to get the anthems and emotiva out of their boxes and onto rack.

It has been a while since I posted as we had delays with getting our tiles, a tiler and a wood burning stove. All is fitted now just in time for the Christmas break. The room is basically finished now. I haven’t got a projector yet but it is all wired and ready to be ceiling mount when funds allow.
Thank you to @Seriously Ltd for supplying me with my av equipment, a pleasure to deal with.

My objective was to create an open plan living/ home cinema, dining and kitchen area. The bifold doors also open out into the deck and garden area. The speakers and subwoofers had to be discrete and disappear in the room. There are lots of compromises but I am so pleased with how it sounds. It is my first time to experience atmos and to me it sounds incredible when you are sitting in the sound bubble. I can’t wait to take it to the next level with my projector.

An absolute pleasure.
Room looks superb 💯

Thank you for your patience with the stock delays that were experienced.

Thanks very much, not a problem, it wasn’t your fault. All worth it now. You managed to get me the Anthem AVM70 when they were like hens teeth around the world!

@Robbie Razzler The room looks good. It’s great to see it come to life. I like the wood panels and the logs are a great touch.

Thank you very much, your room with the unit to hide the speakers is what inspired it. As I couldn’t build it to that standard or adapt ikea furniture the slat panels did the job and are easy enough cut. Helps with the acoustics too being a large open space.

That looks amazing and it's absolutely wild seeing it come to life from the renders.

Thank you very much, I know I sat planning it for so long in room sketcher it’s quite hard to believe it’s actually real now. Even things like the kitchen island and the av unit were still being changed and adapted at the last minute once we saw them actually in the room.

How do you intend to use the screen during daylight hours? As there are a lot of windows in that room.

I am getting black out blinds put over all the windows so that should darken the whole room.

Wow that decor is fantastic! I love it! i Saw the early designs but the end result is so much better than I expected. And it’s a full system with invisible dual subs! Really inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much, very kind. It took lots of planning and work to get to this stage but really pleased with it. My wife wanted everything hidden but I really like it discreet too. It’s great hearing sounds come from the wall and the ceiling and watching people look around them wondering where it’s coming from!

What a fab looking room and fab system. This project should be featured in some of the AV press.

Top job!
