    Hi all,

I have installed Tomb Raider from disc and been playing 2 hours.

My issue is the game disc keeps spinning and stopping. Every 5-10 seconds. this is continuous, it will start spinning then stop, start and stop on repeat now for 2 hours.

The game shows 23gb with a 1.01 update installed.

I thought the game would run from the Hd, has anyone else had this issue or is that how it is?

    Hi,

In case I was not clear, it is making a noise exactly like this:

    Ps4 disk reading sound

Would anyone think this is a PS4 issue or disc issue?

Any reply on the matter would be much appreciated, even if to confirm you do not get the same noise when playing Tomb Raider.

    Thanks:thumbsup:

Does it happen with any other games? I would try reinstalling.

I've just bought Tomb Raider. After reading this thread I'm a little nervous to play it now! I've certainly heard that noise before on other games I've played mate but not like yours where it almost sounds like it's got stuck similar to a broken record.

Hopefully going to install my copy later so will report back.

The sound of the disc spinning up and winding down is normal but it shouldn't be doing it over and over like that. If it was me I would test with other games before jumping to conclusions, and if it kept happening then I would try reinstalling the PS4's system software (settings>Initialize PS4).

Well I've been playing the game for about an hour now and no such problem. Just a little fan noise and that's it.

    Disk definitely not spinning.

I have just gone out and exchanged it for another copy, this is working fine now. No spin or nothing, no noise. Just the spin when you start it up.

    So thanks all for feedback.

I notice the PS4 did load it from disc very fast when I first installed it, does the PS4 disc spin faster than a PS3. I wonder as Spencer_UK had the same issue on a different game so if there is a slight defect in the disc is it more likely to happen?

Strange. Must have been a dodgy disc then. Useful to know for future reference.

Apparantly the PS4 disc drive reads 3 times faster than PS3 :)
