Before I go for the Toshiba XS34, are there any significant drawbacks versus other new models? Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any comparison specs, therefore if anyone can help on these questions...

    1) Panasonic claim 500 line resolution on LP allowing 4 hours of high quality on a single disc - is this true / a big advantage? I've read here that the Panasonic have 3 hour max v Toshiba 2'20" high resolution, does this mean they've improved their MPEG encoding?

    2) Have also read that Sony allows dual layer recording - is that a first for a DVD recorder?

    3) Other than that Sony and Panasonic offer x64 HDD to DVD which I dont think Toshiba matches, but don't see that as too important.

    4) Finally, can anyone comment on how the Tosh fan noise compares?
