I was trying out directX 10 on Winxp media center thinking i might get a slight improvement but didnt notice any improvement,
Then tried it on a winxp pro system and notice a improvement when playing COD4...

So have anyone els tried it???
if so did you see any improvement???

The only other feedback i got was from my mate he said it made no improvement at all playing GTA but instead gave him slight Jitters in game play...

Any info from XP users will be great on this,
also if you havent got version 10 you can download it from here -

Let me know if you notice any improvements...

I thought directx 10 was vista only, if someone has made up a directx 10 for xp I dont think I would risk trying it.

DirectX 10 is Vista only, and I find it very strange that Microsoft do not have any downloads for it?
Is it clear that the file you have installed is from Microsoft and is validated?

Looks like its Try and Buy so I doubt its MS validated.

Well i got it from work,
and it hasnt given me any problems,
installs just like any other version of directX,

also i removed it and installed it 3 times just to make sure all went ok and still no problems with it,
so works fine with windows xp...

Anyone willing to try it and let me know of any improvements...
also if you dont see any improvement you can always remove it...

Have you done an online virus scan since installing it?

i didnt get a virus from this,

Why???
Because it looks like the kind of thing that people would stick a virus in, Direct X 10 is not made for xp and it would sucker a lot of people with xp into downloading it imo.

no worries,
like i said no virus and have uploaded plenty times before so dont belive in spreding viruses for a laugh,
anyway i removed the link as it looks like too many ppl are worried to try it,
but a simple googling and all the info you need on it will be there so if anyone do change there mind let me know...

also so far no improvement with the work pc i was using this morning but just when i got home i tried it with GTA, and game play was much better,
also it sorted out the slight problems i used to have with flight sim,
when using the space stuttle...
so all in all its better then nothing...

Here just a little pic to show its all working fine.....

Sorry m8, I was not trying to say that you were knowingly trying to spread a virus but was just wondering if you done a virus scan on it because I have got viruses from similar things before.

no worries,
did a scan with nod32 and avg before install and after and no viruses,
its working fine as normal as seen in the picture above,
also didnt ask to be activated just installed nice and easy..............

i'll pm you the link if you want it or will put it back up later,
just trying out this embedded version of xp on virtual pc..................

Found this bit of info...

Download DirectX 10 for windows XP is available now. This DirectX 10 for windows XP still in alpha stages and isn’t the original of DirectX 10 files from Microsoft. As Microsoft has announced that the DirectX 10 currently support to Windows Vista only.

In other words its not the proper version.

The alpha version was 10.0(2.1.) which gave afew ppl problems using under vista,
the version in the link above is 10.0(4.10.) which has worked for many and works with xp...

if anyone uses fps then this works very well
