DirecTV HR24-200 - Force 1080p?

My TV suddenly stopped correctly displaying anything other than 1080p. Is there a way to force 1080p on my DirecTV HR24-200? I understand the tv show may not broadcast in 1080p, but if the box can output the signal in 1080p (upconvert?), thats apparently all I need.

I tried selecting the resolution button on the front of the box but it will not let me select 1080p.

I also unselected all of the resolutions other than 1080p from the menu, but nothing changed.
