DirectTV Tivo receicer any good without satalite?

    If I get the satalite receiver with Tivo built in, can I use it without satalite? I'm not sure if I will stay with satalite long term, and I don't want to have to purchace another Tivo unit if I switch back to cable.
    Does anyone know if the DirectTV Tivo unit has the ability to change channels on a cable converter?

    Any opinions on my options?

    You'll probably be better off asking in a US based forum such as http://www.avsforum.com we are UK based and as such most models etc. discussed apply to PAL areas ;)

    IIRC the DirectTV TiVo has no way of inputting an external video source, therefore if not useing satalite its a new TiVo.
