Can someone please explain to me the differance between dipole and bipole surround speakers.
Do dipoles go on the side walls and bipoles on the rear wall?

cheers
Tim

The opposing drivers on Bipoles fire in phase (at the same time) and out of phase on Dipoles.

Ideally dipoles should be mounted 'abeam' the listening position (@ 6' off the ground I think). They are designed to give a very difuse soundfield and were originally designed for at-home THX pro-logic systems.

Bipoles are a bit more directional (though not so much as monopoles - direct drives) and more flexible in where they can be usefully positioned depending on where you the listener prefer.

Was he the tortured soul who poured out his immortal longings into dignified passages of stately music?

Or was he an old poof who wrote tunes?
