I'm currently using the Dimage 7i. Very pleased with it generally, but too much barrel distortion at 28mm equivalent on architectural subjects with strong vertical and horizontal planes. This is a real problem , for various reasons.

Thinking about a D70. I know this is in a different class, and before I spend the money I'd like to askif anyone can comment on the visible distortion at the wide angle setting for the 18 - 70 kit lens, and can the older, manual, Nikkors work with the D70 body at all?

    Thanks all

As a rule of thumb the D70 is compatible with all old AF lenses, the mF ones dont generally work, i think its something to do with the sensor used. The distortion should not be as noticeable on an 18mm simply due to the fact that the magnification is x by 1.6 so you are really looking at a 27mm at the lowest end.
    Hope that made some sense!?
