Hi, This is a little long-winded so I hope you can bear with me I have an old Sony LBT-V701 hi-fi system, which I bought back in about 1988 for around £800ish. It has done me proud since then, but recently the CD player died, which I had repaired but it has since died again. I am now using my Sony NS900 DVD player as a substitute CD/SACD player connected to the old Sony amp and speakers, whilst I save up and wait for some new equipment to be released by Cambridge Audio. However, my parents are having their house remodelled and they have an old Technics hi-fi (don't know model number), which they bought just after I got my Sony and paid about £1000 for. They are planning to dump the Technics hifi as it will no longer fit in with their new surroundings and said I can have it if I want. It has hardly ever been used. My Dad never got around to fixing an areial to the tuner, and neither my Mum or Dad realised it even had a CD player! They've always used a small system in the kitchen to listen to CD's on. So, my question is: What stereo do I keep? The Sony or the Technics? Which will probably give the better sound? It's really only a tide-me-over until next year but I might as well use the better (or least-worstas the case may be, as I realise both are very old systems ) equipment. I hope someone can offer some advice. Many thanks in advance, Matthew
I'd go for the Technics as if your parents are like mine it wont even be run in yet if you know what I mean.
