Now here's this issues :-

1) cabinet contains 1 x PS2 (pal) and 1 x Xbox (pal).

2) Just recieved new 32"LCD and have a 360 on order...

3) No room in cabinet for 360 and wife say's if can't go in cabinet then somethings got to go.

Questions.

1) i have 3 games unplayed on the PS2, do i play them ASAP and put the system in storage, for old times sake....

2) do i put the Xbox in storage and hope the games are all back compat.

3) if i keep the Xbox, do i get it softmodded or will the old games look better on the 360 if they translate ?????

Oh what a difficult life i have, decisions, decisions....

wrong forum!!!! as i'm gonna guess everyone will tell you to stick the ps2 in a dark corner never to see the light of day again(could be wrong!) but thats my suggestion. what are the 3 unplayed games on the ps2?

Thought carefully about posting here but hey i do have an xbox and a 360 on order so i'm 99% converted... the ps2 was a present from the wife so i have to be very careful...

The games i have unplayed, because of getting the xbox 12 months ago are

1) Hitman 2
2) medal of honor
3) prince of persia.

Since the xbox, i have not purchased another game..... tell a lie GT4 but that's all honest...

If you think thats odd i currently have 7 xbox which have not seen the light of day, playing catch up with the rest of you.....

afaik those 3 games are on xbox as well. POP is a great game using the ps2 pad though, but looks much better on the xbox. MOH i'd say your not missing much and HItman is supposed to be ok.

Can't you move the ps2 to another room(spare/bedroom)?

So what your saying is ditch the PS2 and replace with the 360.... should i look at softmodding the existing xbox or is it a case of too little too late ???

Shall i just being fresh, HD, xbox live.....etc etc...

Still got the following to play on the xobx

Halo 1 & 2
Fable
Ninja Gaiden
splinter cell pandora
metal gear solid

Plus a couple more which i won'r own up too...

Poontang....

I haven't got much time between now and the 2/12 but hey i'll give it a go...

Will decide on what to remove when the 360 comes, try the games and hope for the best... so i'll be left with the PS2 and 360.... then maybe when the PS3 comes along..... sorry i should know by now not to talk about things like that..... :hiya:

well if you ditch the PS2 what happens when PS3 is out? Back to square one!

Obvious answer is ditch the xbox, as it should play most of the Xbox 1 games you like, assuming you are buying the full pack.

however, if you fancy softmodding it for media centre duties, then thats also a good option. In that case, drop the PS2

Another alternative would be to swap the PS2 for a slim one (I'm assuming you have a fat one - PS2 that is :p ). That'd probably squeeze in alongside everything else.

As some of the guys have mentioned, the Xbox is a very versatile machine once softmodded, possibly even more so than the Xbox360 in regards to formats like DiVX and Xvid.
Personally I'd scrap the Sony box...

Thanks for your comments lads, lucky the wife can't use a PC to check what i'm up too...

I've decided, out with the old in with the new.... the xbox retires... so i have 1 Ps2 and 1 xbox360 seperated by my KEF 2005 centre speaker so theres no fighting.... then come the spring 1 PS3 and 1 xbox360...

Isn't it great to be a kid with all these toys on offer, waiting for xmas day.... but then it's great being an adult so you dont have to wait you just go and buy....

Put the wife in the cabinet and display all your AV equipment how you want to.

 :rotfl:

Chip the xbox and use it as a media box. I cant see it being used to play games once you get the 360 (But then again the PS2 certainly wont).

XBMC really is brilliant its worth keeping / chipping the xbox and keeping it for that alone plus all the emulators and stuff you can run on it.

I must say that i'm going to keep my X-box and use it mainly for XBMC. Once the 360's here I will move live off it and onto my 360 and then have it permanently as a media box full of movies, emulators, music and I may even keep all of my digital photos on it.

My PS2 on the other hand only gets used for 2 months a year to play Winning Eleven on before PES comes out. To be honest I wouldn't be bothered about my PS2 once the 360 arrives and will probably box it us or stick it on to my retro console TV along with my Saturn and Megadrive. That will leave me with a DC, X-Box and a 360 all attached to my PJ!

You could do what I did and start a business, aquire a room in the house as an office and then turn it into an office come games room! :smashin:

I know a lot of you go one about XBMC and chipping the box but i'm brand new at this so where do i start....????

Won't the 360 once the chippers have got hold of it be better for this....??

Personally i'd like to run my X-Box 360 without fear of it being banned on live. Everytime I use my X-Box on live I have to turn the chip off and unplug it meaning that I can't risk using the internet on it for such things as XBMC. I can see a 360 dealing with hi def video a bit better but the X-Box does fine for me.

XBMC is the dogs, I had my xbox chipped by a friend of a friend for £35.
Check out Xbox Scene or Whitedog I believe whitedog offers a chipping service.

google xbox media centre you will find plenty of info.

As Cas Fan says, I wouldnt want to chip my brand spanking new 360, I would wait a while perhaps 6 months or so till someone has managed to chip it without causing problems/damage to the console, the first batch of mod chips can sometimes be a little unreliable im told.

Just take it to your local computer fair. There will be somethere who can chip it, uprate HD, install all the software. Thats what I did I couldnt be bothered with all the messing around myself.

I have to agree no way I would be chipping a 360. THats something you do 12 months down the line when you are sure you can get away with it

Wish I'd done that. I've installed the chip but am in the process of installing a dashboard and then xbmc. Everything is piecemeal at the moment and I don't really know what I'm doing! :suicide:

Well I haven't got around to installing a new hard drive but apart from that I've got it all up and running... and it's superb. I'm mainly using mine as a media center, streaming files (movies/tv shows/music/pictures) from my PC to the xbox. I only got it configured since this morning and I just know I'm going to get maximum use out of it. It's definitley worth it (especially as the X360 won't be able to play divx/xvid).

cas, you don't need to disconnect it when running with the chip on. Just don't sign into live.

And with updated dash/bios these days, you can have it 'disconnect' the network virtually when the mod is active- the Xbox acts like you've pulled the plug, so it doesn't even try to access live - just in case.

Well played around with XBMC some more last night and it really is top-class. I don't know whether I can bother to install a new hard drive as streaming via PC is probably less hassle. FTP'ing files onto the xbox takes time... :boring:
