    Two quick questions!

1.What do you all think of the dila
projectors that seem to get rave reviews
on the avs forum, particularly the ones
    from jvc.

2.I have just seen on the satellite forum
that the latest digibox from sony is
capable of providing a digital output. I
am not sure what they are talking about
as I thought they all did this! What are
they all on about and is it worth
upgrading to this if sky is going to be
one of the main sources of input to your
(still to be purchased) new projector!

    Regards

    Mr Spaniard,

The "digital output" on the Sony digibox is an audio ouptut, not a video one. Even then it is, as far as I am aware, disabled in sofware as Sky want al digiboxes to be considered equal.

D'Ila straight out the box is pretty poor. Very high brightness, poor colour, poor contrast. The D'ilard mods are supposed to help enormously! Internal scaling is also crappy and most users will have HTPC or external de-interlacers/scalers.

D'ila's also suffer from Halo effect whereby they have a bright area around the unused image frm the panel.

They have the benefit of very high resolution panels and very small pitch between each pixel, making it hard to see distinct pixels.....

Now, what we need is a D'ilard modded, 16:9 panelled D'ila with a Stewart Greyhawk screen!

My sony Digibox had a working optical output straight from the box, but others who have done the forced software update have it working.

The quality of the Optical output is great with music channels, but of course pants with movies, as only pro logic is transmitted.

The Sony Digibox outputs 24 bit 48 kHz with a bitrate of 2304 kbps.
A sony CD player outputs 16 bit 44 kHz with a bitrate of 1411 kbps.

So the Digibox could output DD or DTS if Sky wanted to.

    Mark.
