    Horny.
By the time it arrives it will be the 15th. I have noticed recently that Play (who usually adhere strictly to street date releases) are sneaking a few thinks out early, so fingers crossed.

    An ESSENTIAL DVD disc:laugh:

    Sorry iMan couldn't resist.
It is a DVD full of test patterns, and audio tracks designed to enable you to tweak your screen, plasma projector speakers and amplifier until you don't know if your arse is drilled or punched.

I have the NTSC version, but can't help wondering if there are any major differences in the results you get with the PAL version. I know that the PAL version doesn't have the Snell & Wilcox Zone Plate with 3.2 pulldown, but other than that I don't know of any other differences. Would you be kind enough to post as to whether or not you get very different settings for colour, white level, black level, etc, with the PAL disc, compared to the NTSC?

    errr....
Is it just me, or is this disc(NTSC/PAL) a liitle disappointing?
Maybe i just need a little more time with it, but i found it hard to navigate.
I also had a hard time even finding the calibration section.
Even when found, i didn't think them extensive.
I haven't used it on my PJ yet, but on my plasma found that the Title pictures can be cut off at the sides?
ie "(J)oe Cane Production(s)" the words in brackets were partly cut off etc.
Yet the test patterns was only showing a couple of pixels cut off?
As i said maybe i just need more time.
And the tutorials did teach me some new things.
Having NTSC and PAL discs will help see if there are any differences in source input etc.
But i was frustrated not to be able to dive straight to the setup test patterns.
I will try with a different DVD player/Projector and see if that helps.

    What do you think?

The tutorials are interesting and I didn't get the cut off on my PAL disc, but I agree about the overall disappointment. I still don't think I've found all the test patterns because the disc is a navigational nightmare. I was also under the impression this disc would cover the set up of modern technologies like plasmas and DLP projectors. I was expecting specific test patterns designed for these display types. Yet most of it was still CRT based. Unless of course there are segments of the darn disc I haven't found yet.

Agree with all the above coment's. It's a handy thing to have though, i did'nt have to do alot of tweaking with my t.v. I would have liked a few more audio demo's on there.

Glad I didnt pay full price for it.

Also glad I'm not the only one getting cut off at the sides.

My NTSC version arrived today - posted 20/12/03. When Amazon.ca say surface mail, they mean surface mail

I'm also in agreement with earlier posts - navigation is a nightmare and I'm getting some cutting off on left and right.

Having said that, it is my one and only calibration disk. I wouldn't be without it.
