    Anyone used DIGITAL TechMart?

    DIGITALTechMart.com

LG 32PG6000 for only £288, they claim it's tax free, I'm so tempted but...It's fishy...has anyone used them before?

    please say they're good :rotfl:

Looks too good to be true. Reseller ratings has only one rating on it

It does look too good to be true, but that rating suggests they're good, hmmm, £150 saving? I think I might

I would never trust one rating, it screams scam to me.

They may well be OK, but you have to be err on the side of caution in my opinion.

If you do go for it and all is OK, let me know as the folks could do with a cheap decent TV.

I know, I'm cautious but I did some research and Cyprus do have a tax leglislation which means they can sell stuff, tax free, to other places in the EU. You used to (and still can, although it's rare) do the same with German companies. And other people have phoned them and got an answer which doesn't confirm that it's not a scam but it's a ray of hope

I've just gone through the regristration process (with false details, I dont want them phoning me) and I can safely say that I am not going to shop there.

I was looking out for the 'https' in the address bar at the places where the details need to be secure, it's a common sign of a dodgy site if it's not there. On amazon you get this not only on payment entry forms but also on things like log on forms as well. When it wasnt there for a log in I wasn't too uneasy but then I went to the payment screen and it still wasn't there. That along with the other signs means "no" to me

i was going through the same issues when i started searching the net for a new laptop and found the link for digitaltechmart.com. i have been wondering the same thing as well, just not sure if i should go for it or not. but its so damn cheap :(

and i did the same thing you did monarch, filled in fake details to see what comes up. i might have still tried to order one if they had the paypal option, since its a bit more safe.

i did see this link as well. not sure what you make of it. really confused

See his details. The shop seems to have only appeared in the last day or two and, sure enough, this guy posted the complaint on the 29th (he also started by saying that he bought a macbook, then he said a guitar, then a macbook again, that confused me). It's a pretty standard routine they're taking though, there's mostly positive reviews, and this complaint saying that delivery was slow (just 1 day late though so not too late), this gives it a more realistic appeal. Also notice that the member who posted it signed up on the 29th on Jan '09 and this is the only thing he's said...I smell something fishy.

All the reviews for them are the same, avoid them at all costs

That's why I did the research and didn't give them any of my (real) details before I found out anything about them...and they're not getting them at all now :nono:

Hmm, site first registered in 2006 and due to expire in Sep 2009 yet for some reason the domain details were changed on 26 Jan 2009, and it's hosted on godaddy (Yahoo).

It means something slightly weird may have happened to that domain in the last couple of weeks. People don't often update their domain details.

If you click on the reviews tab on their website you will find an interesting comment on an Apple iPhone from one customer:

WARNING: Do not trust this site, Do not buy anything off this site!!!

    Rating: ***** [5 of 5 Stars!]

In fact the review section makes for fun reading, one comment comes from someone called '****** who'.

filter modified the interesting name that rhymes with banker.

haha, sweet, well, that fantasy of a 32PG6000 for £288 was short lived, I'm glad I didn't go for it though, I wouldn't really want to buy a plasma from Cyprus anyway

I just read through some of the other reviews and they're all really fake for example "What a progress from the old good PS2! Graphics are incredible!!! The only bad thing is that games are expensive." Who writes anything like that? it's not even true for most games (its for the PS3 by the way)

Looks like the web site has gone now. Wonder how many were ripped off before it went.

What you guys are saying is pretty interesting, however as bank manager, I can assure you that any bank transfer made to any account can be reversed if you are not lazy enough to show up in the bank with receipt of payment and claim to cancel payment.
Actually there is nothing wrong with someone accepting bank transfer.
Transfer reversal procedure isn't more complicated and costly(£10-20) than a credit card chargeback.

From what you are saying I understand that any company accepting transfers is fraud?!
Did you pay for car with a credit card?!

    These sites say otherwise,

BankingQuestions.com - Can You Reverse a Wire Transfer?
Bank to Bank Wire Transfer, How Safe?

Also how do reverse money from an empty/closed bank account.

btw. You just joined the forum to tell us this ? interesting.

Read carefully before posting any links. This is what I see there:

"Have done biz. worth millions of USD over 10 years on Bank Transfers from Algeria/ Tunisia/Morocco/Chile/ Brazil/Mauritius for Textile yarns from India with customers who didn't have a great reputation and never faced a problem..."
it is sometimes difficult to sift through the many opinions and passionate rhetoric from folks with no real experience.

Call your bank instead of posting junk

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::suicide:

This is odd, it's obviously a fraudulent website, I've never seen one so obvious after I looked into it, either you're from the website (hence your rediculously large range of experience in banking :smashin:) or the fraudster is a thickit who doesn't know how to scam

Yes, and that person was talking about the receipt of funds, not the sending of. It is not simply a case of walking into your bank with a receipt but involves legal proceedings, assuming you can trace the other party.

Are you sure you're a bank manager?

I'm not convinced, he only appeared yesterday, and the website only appeared a day or two ago...hmmm ;)

And, since that guy who seemed to be promoting the site posted the comment on the iphone saying not to shop there which was mentioned above seems to have dissapeared mysteriously...hmmm :D

I really don't care about this site nor the garbage you wrote about me. This is so funny to see how smart you (Monarch08) are now.
I'm saying that just because I know: you can request a refund in your bank within 31 days after payment. Just call your bank and ask.

Why take risk because of slim saving? just wait another month for prices to drop, save extra £100 and buy locally.

    Conclusion:
If you are so paranoid about fraud, sit and home, buy from trusted people: neighbours and friends. This way you are 100% safe and protected :smashin:
