Digital out for cds?

    Hi,

    1st post here. :)

    I have a low-end DVD player which I also wish to use for music cds.
    If I used the optical digital outputs to send the signal to a higher-end AV receiver would the receiver do the digital to analogue conversion?

    Yep. That's what I'm doing at the moment since my CD gave up the ghost. My amp does a lot better at converting to analogue than the DVD player does.

    Yes..... what good it might do is another matter..... this depends on your opinion of digital..... if bits is bits to you then this is awonderful way to go, if you are like me, then you have additonal parameters to balance.
