Digital optical or digital coaxial

Can anyone tell what is the more superior connection; Optical or coaxial, when connecting the dvd players audio to an AV amplifier.

In 99% of all cases there is hardly anything in it, but it does seem to those with golden ears that digital co-axial is slightly better.

i didn't get past the 1st page of that intense argument but, it is fairly simple to explain the minor theory
Optical cables carry the signal as light but the signal is actually electrical pulses, coaxial carries electrical pulses therefore optical needs two conversions, one at source and one at processor.
