    I don't follow why all recorders don't have digital inputs for people to transfer footage from camcorders via firewire - surely it msut be better than converting to analogue and then reconverting to digital or am I missing something :lease:

    DV Firewire input is better than a conversion, but not everyone has a DV camera. The circuitry costs extra, so tends to only appear on the more expensive units of a manufacturer's range.
