Digital handshake issues Sony str-dn 1040

Hi there !
New to the forum and first post, so please be kind
I have a Sony Str-dn 1040 connected to a Samsung smart tv, Sky Q silver sat box & Sony PS4. All sources linked back to the receiver using newish hdmi cablesMy problem is when I power them on, the receiver seems to be ‘hunting’ for a signal. The screen switches between my chosen source (say SAT/TV) and ‘no stream’. This can go on for anywhere from 20 seconds to 3-4 minutes before sorting itself out.
I’m leaning towards some sort of digital handshake issue, but hoping for some input to clarify and hopefully resolve

I'm having a similar issue but with a Denon X2300. I'm assuming it's something to do with me having an active HDMI cable in monitor output 2. Everytime I unplug it, the monitor output 1 works fine. Output 2 is a 15m active HDMI cable to the projector. Output 1 is a 1m hdmi cable to the TV.

I'm wondering if the active cable is so powerful, it's messing with the shorter normal hdmi to the TV.
