I have reasonable home cinema system but the dvd is some way from my a/v amp. Currently I have the digital audio signal to a/v amp connection is by way of a 14m phono cable. It sounds ok with 5.1 dolby and dts but I keep being told I should use a pucker digital co-ax. So whats the deal, am I hearing things and what imrovement would I get with a pucker cable.

Welome to the forums. IIWY, I'd stick with what you've got and not worry about it :)
