    Hi,

have the Advanced Scart Kit for x-box.

I turned on my x-box a short while ago to finish Halo 2 and I didn't get any sound from speakers.

Checked the cable to the amp was ok (red light on the end of the cable was on and pluuged into my amp ok.

checked the other connection to my x-box and it turns out that it was very loose. When you pull the cover back slightly on the cable you can see the cable was nearly torn in two.

There is the red light flashing in the connection point but no sound as the wire that feeds in just won't hold in place now.

When I pulled it out to have a look it broke apart, pulled a small metal plate of the cable and tried to rest it onto the hole where it should go but still no sound.

Sorry if i've not explained properly but if you look at your cable and x-box while reading it may be more comprehensible :)

Question is, when an optical cable snaps is that it, kapput, enda?

Can you still stick these things back together again or should i just give up on it and buy another cable (never did like the design as the plastic cover that slips over the connection has never been that secure, bad design imo....

But the optical cable is merged into the connection that goes into the back of the x-box. I don't think I can just go out and buy a separate cable becuase theres no separate connection for it to go to!

    domtheone,
I had same problem with this cable (crap construction) What you will find is that if you take a closer look the advanced cable block that goes into the xbox will actually take a standard stand alone toslink cable. It might need opening up a bit more but you will see it. I noticed this AFTER I bought a whole new one - DOH!

thanks for that gee, i'll take a closer look tonight. If that's the case then I can probably get a decent standalone cable.

Dragon I must have an oldish Advanced Scart pack as theres no junction box half/1/3rd of the way down...

gee, I did take a closer look, pull of some plastic and notice that you can plug a standalone cable in. I took the end that goes to my amp and that fit's perfectly into the other end now.

I'll just be getting a standalone cable now.

Why they didn't go with this setup in the first place is beyond me as it seems more robust.
