Other than the obvious focal lengths (and cashback offer)is there much difference between the two 'Kit Lenses' than come with the Nokin D70 (28-80mm and 18-70mm).

I.e. image quality, auto focus etc, manual focus, handling etc.

Should I go for the more expensive lense (70mm)?

    I'm a 'casual user'...holidays, family pics etc.

    Many Thanks

The DX 18-70 lens is a far better unit than the G 28-80 and retails at around £300 alone.

    Worth every penny.

I got the 18-70mm kit lens with mine and it is fabulous. Very sharp with almost silent focussing which is much quicker than the cheaper 70-300mmG lens I've just bought. That said, it should be as I only paid 60 quid for the telephoto lens delivered (ah the joys of living in the US for a while!). Go with the 18-70 and you won't be disappointed.

    ebuyer - £651 delivered

My local Jessops wouldn't match that but I did get them down to £680 before cashback....

Just to warn you, I nearly ordered mine from amazon in the US (where I am living for a few months) but changed my mind as they weren't actually sold by amazon but by another internet camera dealer. This company weren't authorised nikon dealers so I wouldn't eligible for the rebate and they were basically selling grey imports.

Not sure if this is the case with amazon in the UK but might be worth checking out if you are relying on the rebate. 680 from jessops seems a great deal as you will definitely get the rebate and have a physical store to walk into if anything goes wrong.

good luck whichever way you go, I'm sure you'll love the camera.

It's from Amazon UK themselves and the cashback offer is mentioned on the page.

    HERE is the link.

good news, should be fine then. It seems that amzon in the US are more diversified than back home, they act as a front for lots of other shops, not sure if thats such a good thing.

    you'll love the camera.
