    Hi,
I am interested in setting up a 5.1 home theater system that can also be part of a multi-room audio setup. Space is a limiting factor so I have to look at slimline AV receivers and have narrowed it down to Yamaha as I quite like the Musiccast app.

Yamaha seem to make two receivers that fit the bill, the rx-s601 and rx-as710. I am however struggling to understand the difference between these products. The only thing I noticed looking at the specs is that the rx-as710 is 7.1 (which I don't really need) and the rx-s601 is 5.1. Beyond that is there any difference to justify the $500 RRP price difference? Is there any build or sound quality differences for example?

Does anyone have one of these who has compared them against each other?

I'm looking at pairing them with Q Acoustics 7000i speakers if that is of any relevance.

    Cheers
