    Whats the difference between these 2 players? Is it worth paying the extra for the 220e?

    Thanks

    pbirkett,
    where have you seen that there are two types of 220?
    Is it at one site or two?
    Thanks.

    (I think you've just found different prices for the same player. Possibley one is packaged 100% for UK, and one is European (grey market?) but they'll have the same features)

    The one I bought from dvdplayer.co.uk is a european one - the UK manual is a photocopy. Oh! Any one wanna buy an unopened French 220 user manual?

    Also, I am beginning to read some people have problems playing some DVD's. Is this usual for this DVD player, or should I get something else?

    Hey!!
    I was doing the same research as you just a week or two ago...
    iirc this is why there's a price difference

    Amazon's 220 = A region 2 DVD player & price not including P&P (+£5/£6)

    dvdplayer.co.uk = multiregion and includes P&P (and you'll get an e-mail confirming delivery etc.)

    That's a firmware issue.
    1.3 = bad
    1.4 = better
    1.5 = good

    I'll check the version dvdplayer.co.uk sent me.
    Stay tuned.

    Yo!

    Cheers for helping me out here dude, appreciated. It seems to get good reviews which is why I'm interested in it. I like the fact it plays mp3s too.

    The f/w = 1.5 on my player
    :)

    Good luck with what player you choose

    I'm biased towards Toshiba, but I won't upset people by recommending a Tosh to you!!!

    The 220 replaced my chipped Tosh 2109

    The 220 plays MP3. Do you need that? you'll need to keep folders and filenames to 8 letters...

    The way I read the Toshiba user manual this was a requirement, but in practise, I reckon the player will just cut off the extra letters (maybe I should write 'truncate' here ;) ).
    Can anyone confirm that's the case?

    I just got my 220e today, but won't be home till the weekend to fiddle with it.

    I just wanted to give a big shout-out to www.dvdplayers.co.uk. I ordered the 220 from them at quarter past 3 on Monday and it arrived at my house (Ireland) yesterday. Although there was nobody there, I rang the delivery company and they came back this morning.

    So that's about 46 hours to get my player from Newcastle. Noice wan guys.

    devastator, mine came with both types...

    The standard European one - possibly without an English section :eek:

    And a photocopy of the English one - quite a good copy (don't remember getting ink on my hand!)

    Oh! It's possibly a poor quality printed copy, as you can download the manual from Toshiba UK support. :rolleyes:
