so, they appear to be almost identical, apart from divx and the facia. oh, and the 470 has a 108mhz/12bit d/a converter while the 370 has a 54mhz/12bit converter. does that make much difference?

Has anyone compared these bit rates? I am borrowing a pioneer 370 dvd at the moment and through my tosh 36ZP46 tv it is breathtaking. I am now wondering if this higher bit rate is going to be noticably better on the 470. Also the 370 is being run through component leads supplied and progressive scan. Does anyone know if I could/should use 3x 75 ohm coaxial leads for a better picture, or doesnt component use coaxial?
    Thanks for any help !

Do you get 'edge flicker' with the 370?

    Hi Raze,
I havent noticed it yet, but I will check it later with monsters inc dvd. I assume from what ive read that this is unstable edges on straight lines.

sit fairly close to the TV and take a look at 'all' edges and contours of the characters. Also look at the woman/slug like creature at the desk who asks why the paperwork hasn't been filed - look at her glasses and the insides of her eyes for flicker. Also one of the early scenes when sulley (th ebig blu monster) and Mike (the small 1eyed green one) leave for work, when the camera pans down take a look at the window ledges on both left and right buildings...

let us kno ur findings! :)

Hi Raze, Just looked at slug in monsters inc. There is some movement within her glasses but not on edges, on the whole area. It is most noticable sitting 2 ft infront of the tv and as the camera draws away as mike is leaving and the scene is ending.

Havent got xmen 1 but will let you know if I notice it on anything else, but I must say that its hardly noticable from normal viewing distance, and I like the rest of the picture so much that I will still probably look to buy a DV470 soon, unless I see something in the same price range that looks even better.
