Their isn't many film that you can watch over and over again(personal taste i know!). But this is one of them!. I have this film on EVERY format going sat on the shelf or bunged in a cupboard(order formats). I even cant help myself re-watching it when its on TV as well.

Well they got my money for this in 4K, i just got to have it.............................AGAIN!

Thanks Cas for the review :smashin:

Yep Laserdisc, DVD and Blu for me. I'm not sure if I still have the LD. The chances are my wife through it out.

Thinking about it, its a shame they didn't go down the same road as the "Jurassic Park" films, as in bringing out ALL of the "Die Hard" films out in a 4K box set!(surely they missed a trick there ?). I for one would of differently brought it, as i like them all.

I think this is going to be an expensive year, first Gladiator and now Die Hard with the promise of more 'proper' 4K goodness to come

Thanks for the review Cas, made me remember how fantastic this film is (as an aside, I though Die Hard 3 was the pick of the sequels...)

Excellent review Cas. I remember a count down of the top 50 action films a few years back and this was bang top of the list. Easily one of the best audio soundtracks of its time when VHS tapes were mastering its 'HiFi stereo sound'. Also a really great xmas movie

Does anyone have a view on whether the disc version will be better then the Apple 4k TV version I have already purchased. It would be great to have some reviews which look at quality of the Apple versions against the discs...
      Cheers for any views

I actually like 2 and 3 as much as 1, and 4 is actually under-rated, certainly worthy, but 5 is an embarrasment, and almost a parody.

If ever a film is crying out and deserves an upgrade to Atmos/DTSX mix it would be this one . Such a bloody waste for an excellent film :(.

Searched in Amazon to buy this. No results, but showed me an impending Matrix UHD release instead. I'm excited to see what that will look like.

Disc is always going to be better, but...

As long as your connection is good the 4k Apple streams are excellent and It would be very hard to tell the difference at normal viewing distances imo.

Audio is where I find the biggest difference personally.

The iTunes version is also devoid of HDR at the minute so the disc (at nearly 4 x the price mind) is the better bet

Any idea if the blu ray is remastered as well, like WB did with Unforgiven or is it the old disc?

I got the 4K iTunes version when it was on offer for £1.99. I know it isn’t in HDR or WCG but it looks pretty good to me. I’ve made the decision only to buy UHD discs if there is a DTS:X or Dolby Atmos mix available like Gladiator which is excellent. Sounds pretty good with Dolby Surround or Neural:X applied.

It's the same old disc, with the same shattered glass artwork that the Legacy Collection discs have.

Great review Cas & so pleased this 4K release is so good ... this is one of my fave all time films & a festive classic for me at Christmas

The action is superb in this film but Bruce & Alan’s dialogue & one liners have never been bettered imo

Couldn't it have both? Besides, the original mix according to this review was 4 channels, rather than 5.1...
