Did you have to "bribe" your other half to get your HD box?

My wife is great when it comes to me buying stuff. When I say I'm "interested" in getting something she knows full well its already a done deal! :D

On this occasion though she has used the Sky HD pre-order as leverage for me buying her a new portable sat nav for her car.

To all in tense and purposes Sky HD just set me back over 600 quid!!

Ah well, when I'm kicking back watching the world cup in HD glory she can be out and about listening to TomTom Jane all she wants!!

Anybody else have to pay off the OH to get the order in?

Nope... she's happy for me ordering it along with me buying my Pioneer screen just before christmas.

She's earns good money as well so we are pretty much independent when it comes to disposible income! So long as the bills are paid each month we buy what we want!

Normally agree all our major purchases. Didn't discuss this, have thousands of pounds of equipment and need this for it to shine.

Just ordered it and told her.

She wasn't that unhappy about it, took her to get the kitchen/dining room flooring sorted out, about £1200.

So Sky HD was a bargain!

the fiancee and I are still financially independant. Go halves on most things. She wasn't bothered about me spending £2400 of my own / the credit card company's money on the screen or £299 on the box. She loves the screen and gets the benefit for nothing.

More worried that she won't be as enthusiastic as me about watching stuff mainly for the fact it's in HD! Plus I'm hoping the World Cup will convert her to football but I think I'm fighting a losing battle.:)

Plus how to add her share of that extra £10 a month onto the share of her bills

I bought a much cheaper TV than I had been looking at so it was already agreed that the money for SkyHD was reserved to make the most of it, no need for bribing (although she's probably thinking of one right now :( ).

bought a new hitachi lcd at christmas after some convincing, as we were'nt having one until SKY HD was coming out. (but i had to have it!!)

Pre ordered the HD this morning after convincing her but she was ok with it.

Just gotta hope that BBC start showing some ready steady cooks in HD.

That will help equal it out.

After I had ordered it this morning, I played the line that some people had speculated it was going to be £700, so it was a bargain to get it for £300! Hopefully she won't notice the extra £10p/m coming out of the joint account.
