Did it outright suck?

I thought that was visually very creative and quite unique in a Star Wars film. Especially the way
all the Rey's were slightly out of sync with each other
..
Yes I liked this part. Was a cool effect.

Given all the crying on the forums about this, I'm surprised to see how the poll currently stands.
Have you checked how many of the 'like it' ticks match Lucasiskings IP address? ;)

Haven't you got yourself into enough trouble already over in the other TLJ thread? [emoji23]

Please don't get this thread closed peeps. These SW threads are the funniest thing on AVF :smashin:

That being said, AVF is a watered-down korma compared to the vindaloo of the more SW-based forums out there.

Worst Star Wars movie ever made.

The opening scene which is usually iconic, was underwhelming.

The ‘phone prank’ at the beginning of the movie felt so awkward, I thought I was watching a spoof.

Snoke’s character was completely wasted. His CGI form was horrible. Who was he? What was his motive? Complete waste.

Why were there so many scenes with porgs? What did they possibly add to the movie besides comic relief?

The way they portrayed Luke Skywalker was disrespectful. So when he was younger he didn’t want to kill his father, who happened to be the baddest Sith in the galaxy, because he saw good in him. But yet when he grew older, he thought about killing his nephew whilst he slept because he might turn evil? I can’t even begin to express just how ridiculous and awful this characterisation was. They completely ruined Luke Skywalker, but not just ruined, they have basically destroyed his legacy. I mean the scene where Luke drinks milk from that creatures nipple - what the hell was all that about? Johnson is just taking the piss. Luke brushing off his shoulder? I’ve never seen an iconic character destroyed like this. Throwing his lightsaber away like it was nothing? So, so wrong.

So a Star Wars movie with the beloved Leia, C3PO, R2D2 and Chewbacca, yet all these characters were wasted in favour of new and much inferior and poorly written characters such as Rose and Finn?

Leia flying across space was so awkward.

The Casino sequence felt like a scene from a completely different movie.

So Rey became a Jedi in 3 lessons? What??

Worst lightsaber duel in the entire saga.

The film was so boring, especially during the middle section. I can’t believe I was actually thinking about walking out of a Star Wars movie!

The story was such a muddled mess. Too many plot holes. Felt superficial. Nothing really had any substance.

There were too many moments that were supposed to be comedic, but failed miserably. This was worse than a spoof!

This couldn’t have been a worse movie. It’s like the director DELIBERATELY set out to ridicule the Star Wars saga. By far the biggest disappointment I’ve ever had the displeasure of experiencing.

It seems like the message the director was trying to get across was - destroy the past, and in the process he proceeded to destroy the legacy of the previous Star Wars movies. It’s like he hates them! If you didn’t want to add to the existing saga, why on Earth did you have to destroy it? They’ve given you your own trilogy, go tinker with that. He should never have been given Episode VIII.

I walked out of the cinema feeling broken. I was a huge Star Wars fan, but this movie has somehow managed to destroy the saga - so much so I have no inclination to watch episode 9. I never thought I would be saying this.
Agree with your comment about the opening scene, pure comic relief. A great opening scene is the future sentinels scene in DOFP.

There are a certain contingent of Star Wars fans that need it explained to them that Star Wars is not sci-fi.
I am not sure about that. The first seconds of the first film in 1977 made it obvious to all that this was not sci-fi but space fantasy.

True but since when did stating the obvious at the start of a film work with everyone? I'm thinking of the "Waaaah! This soundtrack is broken!" brigade for the new film in particular. :)

And no "I've got a bad feeling about this" either and droid language doesn't count!
